My new quote

"The best critique of the bad is the practice of the better."

One of Alans favourite quotes at Forge. I really appreciated his and all the other dudes respect and love for the established church and stuff, but at the same time still being able to say that there'some big changes that need to be made.

I think this relates to a lot of my thoughts and issues with churches, youth ministries etc. Basically, stop whingeing about what you don't stand for, and start doing what you do.

I certainly agree with the 'get over it and get on with it' idea but what is really interesting for me is that it seems part of the human condition to first distance itself from the prevailing paradigm (often through criticism) before it can move on and articulate a new one. I have read this elsewhere. What happens is some never move beyond the distancing themselves phase and become 'anti' rather than 'post'.

Yeah that sounds like a pretty fair call Garth-makes sense to me. I like the idea of post instead of anti.
