I got an A+ in Life...

I got this a while back on a MySpace bulletin from a friend of mine, and on one level its just a stupis survey thing done to fill a bit of time, but I also think there's something more to it.

This is the stuff by which people these days judge success in life. The title of the post is, I got a ... in life. These are the kind of young people that youth leaders, pastors and chaplians will be dealing with over the next few years.

We live in a world where this is the stuff that dreams are made of, where having all the right stuff and having all the right friends, particularly on mySpace, is where its at. This is not a generation that sees Jesus as a viable option, if you're seemingly kicking goals with both feet in life, why would you sacrifice your life for others, why would you put others first, when putting yourself first is seemingly going so well?

A tough time to be making disciples...

I got a C wooo lol

It's funny coz a friend came to me not long ago and said that she was worried she couldn't go out and make friends because her zodiac/starsign said she couldn't. These kinds of things suck people in to believe a single opinion. The key is to shout another voice into their lives one way or another- well i rekon so.

Think its a tough question for everyone though and each generation have their own standards for measuring happyness.

Been thinking alot recently about being 'happy' and where that comes from.... surprised at how much things going on with other people can really effect my mood (decided I'm going through a mild case of bi polar disorder!).

But then I don't know that we are always meant to be happy!? Maybe being unhappy is good sometimes?...

I got an E (57%). I suppose I'm just not meant for MySpace.

hey all.
mim, re ur comment: i just finished reading a book called 'faith is not a feeling', which talked about taking hold of the fact that the Word of God is truer than anything we think, or especially, feel (Bible says, Heavens and earth may pass away, but God's word remains). It talked a lot about making conscious choices with your head, on the basis of God's Word, regardless of feelings. Also talked about how 75% of life is struggles, and how life is about knowing God and becoming like Jesus - not a 'happy' journey in a 'feelings' kinda way, but definitely the most fulfilling, life giving, renewing journey to be on! great book, by Ney Bailey if you wanna check it.
catch.

should've given an example of what i was talking about in my comment!
eg.
'I don't feel like God loves me today, in fact, i feel crap and like God's no where to be found'
Response: 'Even though i feel this way, God's word says that He'll never leave nor forsake me and that NOTHING can seperate me from his love, and i choose to hold onto that fact'.

BTW, it works! I was feeling really tired and stressed a few weekends ago, and decided to make a 'things to be thankful for' list. Prayed through it and really focussed on it. Feelings wise, i was still tired, though less stressed, but i really felt like i'd taken a step in the right direction and had chosen with my will to go God's way rather than my own...very satisfying!

Anyhoo, rambling is now done !

Sounds like an interesting read.
Becoming increasingly more aware of a part of me thats deeper than emotions and so my faith and trust in God is not an issue. But when things involve other people with free will I'm not so comfortable...

Also, can we really completely ignore emotions? tend to think that we over rely on something don't always know how to understand... think society has impacted our understanding and use of emotions- look at hunger!
And when it comes down to it, would rather trust God than my limited understandings of my feelings.
