I have my own domain name!

This is sweet as!

A guy I met a while back and have been in contact with a bit (its a long story) was kind enough to register this domain name for me! Will make it a whole lot easier to tell people my blog address now!

Then apparently some other belgium company operating out of china registered my real name in the hope that I'd wanna buy it off them at some exorbitant price! Not gonna happen!

I love it when people know stuff about the internet, I've got no idea!

Actually, I'll give him a plug, cos he makes money out of knowing stuff about the net, particularly blogs. So if you're one of those people into making your blog look red-hot, and get lots of people to visit etc, check out Alister Cameron and don't worry, even though he does have two first names, you can trust him!

Quiet times and Extrovertism

As those of you who know me will know, I'm fairly extroverted to say the least. At its best this means I'm warm and outgoing, easy to chat with and can start a conversation with most people. At its worst this means I'm an attention seeker who sometimes doesn't give others a go. But anyway.

I've been thinking about this, and my desire-particularly at this stage of the year, to go away and do the 'spend a significant amount of time with God seeking direction and guidance for whats coming up' thing. See I enjoy that, and find it really helpful, but often quickly just get lonely and bored! I just need to be around people! Plus, a big way I reckon God guides me is through the wisdom and words of others, so being by myself I reckon I can miss out on that.

But then when i'm around people I just wanna chat and muck around and have fun, which is great, and not what I'd consider an 'unspiritual' thing, but just not what I always need. Maybe I need to go on thos retreat where you're there for a few days and only allowed to talk at mealtimes or something.

Its funny, I love the quiet, contemplative, meditative forms of prayer-just not for too long!

Wanna work for the OakTree Foundation?

I just got an email from the OakTree foundation asking if I, or anybody I knew, was interested in working for them. So if ur looking for some work in the areas of media communications, advocacy, fundraising or networking for one of the best charities going around, then check out http://www.theoaktree.org/Public/Home.aspx?Page=wsdUzWmcIME=&opt=zrMv18qd+pc= for more details.

Even if you're not interested, check out their site. It was started by Hugh Evans-Young Australian of the Year a couple years back (who is also going out with a girl I did YITS with, well they were when I last checked?) and one of the guys from there was the guy who ran that massive Make Poverty History concert last year-at the age of 19!

I love Australia Day!

Kicking back with mates, having a barbie and a few beers, watching the cricket and listening to the Hottest 100 on JJJ-doesn't get much better than that!

I've forgotten who I voted for, but I think there was a bit of Ben Harper-Better Way, Gnarls Barkley-Smiley Faces, Panic! at the Disco-The Only Difference, Bob EvansDon't you think its time, Kanye-Hey Mama maybe Killers, AFI, Hilltop Hoods and Blue King Brown, Pretty girls Make Graves, Something with numbers-Apple of the Eye (still my favourite song of the past few months. So annoyed my iPod got stolen, been missing rocking out to it on my new headphones).

I reckon Lupe Fiasco will be up there, as will Crazy by Gnarls Barkley and When We Were Young by the Killers.

There's always some mean competition in Jesse n Sarah's vote count, with all proceeds going to TEAR, so I'd better get my thinking cap on!

Argh! Technical difficulties!

Most annoying sit around and wait to be on TV but then go home due to techical difficulties ever! I so hope they give me like a $100 000 head start for my inconvenience! You'll find out which show in due course.

Back in town

Well, after potentially the busiest couple of weeks of my life, I'm finally home and having a bit of a rest-for today! Gotta get back on the horse tomorrow to film a big new game show on one of the major networks-but more on that later.

I wish I had time to write in detail about all of the stuff I've been up to, but its probably not gonna happen, so I'll give you a quick rundown.

On beach mission for 12 days-absolutely loved it. Was a little unsure of it and how I'd go, but was a part of a really great team and there were some awesome kids there, so loved that. Really great model of mission for connecting with families and kids I reckon. I found it to be a good mix of doing the intentional evangelistic thing but also serving needs and just living down there with people doing the incarnational thing.

Whilst I was there I did a phone interview, but missed the photo shoot, for a big interview with a few of the core members of the Heard, which was the lead story in the 'Extra' section of the Herald Sun last Sunday-the 14th. We ended up with a really good write up, 2000 words plus a couple of photos, with quite a few quotes from me.

The day after beach mission we again went to the tennis with the Heard, and had our usual day of tennis-supporting, tomfoolery and general attention-seeking. For some photos check this part of the website. I assumed the momentous title of Captain Australia, which was awesome fun, although unfortunately I didn't get to grace giant Heard tennis court to again assert dominance over Captain Un-Australian. Due to the fact that we actually saw a decent tennis game that required us to watch closely and cheer, we weren't able to do mnay of our funny stunts, which was a bummer. But we did manage to pull of a 10000 person slow-wave in Vodafone Arena, and get Alicia Molik over the line, so that was sweet.

Then I had half a day off, went to a Youth Vision meeting, got up annoyingly early for a cricket game that was cancelled, then drove to Adelaide to meet up with some people for a couple of days. Man that place is small, and has the worst water ever! I seriously couldn't believe people are expected to drink that!

Back home to meet the producers of this game show and get ready for filming, and now just chilling for the day.

So thats my busy couple of weeks in a nutshell!

Off to Beach Mission

Due to me not doing a camp at all this sumeer, and cos a couple people asked me, I'm doing a beach mission this year, which I head off for tomorrow morning, so don't expect any writings of any significance, or at all actually, for the next two weeks.

Never done a beach mission before, so it should be a great oppurtunity to experience a different style of mission and ministry, and see what I have to learn from God and those people. Should be good.

Adios.

Captain Australia on YouTube!

I'm still not exactly sure how to put videos straight up here so you can just click on them and watch them, but for the moment, if you want to watch the promo video for the greatest supporter group in Australian History-The Heard, then follow this link. Check it out! And keep Thurs 18th Jan free!

The Pyramid did Rock!

Once again, Pyramid did not disappoint! The music was awesome! The friends were funny and the crowd was festive!

Living End, Lior and Ugly Duckling were definite highlights, as was Ash Grunwald, Beautiful Girls, Something with Numbers and Faker. The only real disappointment was Silverchair-just get over yourselves guys and play your old stuff.

Most memorable festival moment was definitely seeing a massive group of people all crowded around something happening, only to run over and discover it was two people with full proper boxing gloves and face and head protectors punching on! Some dudes had just brought the stuff along, and any randoms could just get in there and have a bash. It was hilarious!

So of course when they were looking for somebody else to get in and have a crack against a guy about my size, there were very few seconds thoughts before I jumped in! It was great fun! Because of all the padding on the gloves and helmets, nobody really got hurt, but I got a couple of good punches in, and so did he! Maybe it's just a guy thing, but man, it was so much fun!

Decided to eat something other than Barbecue shapes the entire time this year-which left me feeling in much better shape come the end of the festival. And I also did my bit for the drought by not showering the entire time-you've just gotta do what you've gotta do sometimes!
