Living in Intentional Community

This is a great interview/article about some people doing Intentional Communal Living sort of stuff, something that has been going around in my head for ages. Basically just living in a big place and being intentional about sharing your life and space with the people around you. There's heaps to like about it.

I've always been inspired by my good mate Lucas who used to run a fully open home down in Torquay, where there was always people there hanging out, doing life together etc. Was great stuff.

They're also into dumpster diving, which is also pretty cool-but not for everybody! Sure does save them a whole bunch of money!

Hey Dig-face.

I remember you telling me about Lucas ages ago. It has challenged me ever since.

You're right, it's definitely not for everyone but I think we can all get a little out of it.

For me, I've always looked at the things/Possessions I've valued and maybe held a little too 'close and personal' and figured out where I stand in terms of being generous with everything.

It has been a challenge in many aspects, with just letting go of stuff that will fade away anyway, but also an experience of liberation, a feeling of freedom to be generous... if that makes sense?

You're a total legend, thanks for yet another great post! :)

The problem with Australia is that it's so heavily legislated... you'd be breaking the law to feed anyone from a dumpster... the health department would shut your ministry down... and a homeless person you fed would likely sue you for damages if you got food poisoning... so it's not all that cool in the end.

Nanny state we are!!! But I'm kinda glad it's illegal to own weapons and stuff, or to drive without a seat belt, or to racially vilify another person (to list a few examples)... all those fuddy-duddy rules we have in Australia make it a much safer place to live than in the U.S of A.

Having said all that (food hygiene practices aside) these people have great hearts.
