Hey...I read this and just wanted to leave you some input. At my church my Pastor has been teaching a series on the power of prayer. Here are two main points I wanted to tell you:
1. Prayer can change things
2. No prayer is too small
Moses' prayed and saved the Israelites from God's distruction when they wroshiped the idol. God wants a relationship with us which means praying/talking to him about anything.

So yes I would suggest praying about it as well as anything else waying on your mind or heart. Because you may be surprised to see God's response.

Not being able to play footy is clearly a big deal to you, otherwise you wouldn't be praying/blogging about it.

If you're happier when you're healthy and able to play footy, than you're more likely to be a compassionate person and help others in need.

Don't feel guilty about putting yourself first. Especially when it comes to praying, which is a personal interaction between YOU and GOD. You should be praying for yourself. Praying for others out of a sense of obligation or guilt may seem more commendable, but it's not really honest, in my opinion. You'd be much better off getting your self right first before you worry so much about others in need.

HOWEVER, praying can give you a "God's-eye perspective" on things, as Phil Yancey says, which means your own problems might not seem so daunting to you any more. If that's honestly where you've gotten to, then that's a good thing. At the very least, praying has helped you to worry less about your problems.

But if not being able to play footy is something that continues to distress you, then do everything you can to try and fix it. If praying is your last resort, give it a go!

Personally, I too struggle with praying for healing or help with personal problems, but it's not so much a guilt problem as it is a belief problem. I just have a hard time letting go of all the doubt and questions to fully give in to asking for help from my imaginary friend. I actually envy people who are able to do that sort of thing.

Few thoughts
+Is being injured preventing a mission you think God is calling you to?
+Is not investing so much time in footy enabling you more time to invest in other ministry areas or opening up more time in your calendar to spend with God? (I recall you've noticed a change of direction in your Huddle)
+ Is our ultimate aim physical healing? prob not
